The 478th Meeting was held at Badgemore Park Golf Club on October 10th, 2022.
The Chairman welcomed everyone and there followed reports to the meeting by the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.
The guest speaker at the meeting was Graham Horn of Blue Badge Tourist Guide who gave a talk, assisted by slides, entitled Climbing Kilimanjaro – To the Roof of Africa. Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano at 5895 metres, is the highest mountain in Africa and is situated in Tanzania. Graham’s talk covered his personal experience of climbing, in a group of people, from the base camp in the Kilimanjaro, through Rainforests, Moorland terrain and then through volcanic terrain to the summit which is in effect a volcanic crater. The journey to the summit took 4.5 days with the return journey 1.5 days – a total of 30 miles.

- The next event will take place on October 27, and this will be a visit to the Mill at Sonning. Discussions are underway regarding possible events in 2023 including a visit to the Eden project.
- The Chairman thanked Graham for his talk which was warmly appreciated by the Club members.
