Chairman Tony Cobb welcomed members to the 524th meeting of Henley Probus Club.
Following the normal business meeting, the Chairman introduced the guest speaker Professor Dan Remenyi who gave an interesting and informative talk entitled “Griefbots and Memorybots”.
Dan explained,with the aid of a detailed slide presentation, how Artificial Intelligene(AI) already plays a role in many parts of our everyday life. New applications known as “Griefbots” and “Memorybots” suggest it may also influence how we remember loved ones after death and how people with memory loss can be supported while alive. These possibilities raise important and sensitive questions about technology, memory, and human relationships.The talk provided a detailed analysis of how individuals or families,using Artificial Intelligence,can keep the memory of a loved one active through the use of Griefbot and Chatbot.
The presentation and subsequent question and answers session provided an enormous food for thought as to how the technology will progress over the next few years.

Dan has maintained a lifelong interest in Artificial Intelligence and worked across the ICT industry in consulting, manufacturing, and vendor roles. Having spent over 30 years in academia – including roles as a Visiting or Extraordinary Professor at 10 universities worldwide – he brings deep expertise and practical insight into the rapid rise of Chatbots and Generative AI.
